THE SMART PLACE VOLUNTEER/INTERN PROGRAM
- The Smart Place is interested in partnering with other like minded individuals to enhance our creative and progressive atmosphere for the individuals we serve. While offering our daily programming, SPACS is expanding our service base by incorporating the skills of volunteers and interns! During our general and summer program for mentally and physically challenged individuals in the State of Georgia,
- The volunteer program will offer tutorial sessions such as arts and crafts, computer activities, dance and exercise, discovery classroom activities, Adult Daily Living Skill classes, swimming and equestrian programs, weekly trips, daily walks, picnics and cook outs!
- Our volunteers program will offer skilled services to enhance our enrichment and seasonal activities, by targeting social and emotional development.
Programming hours for our participants is are from 9:00am – 3:00pm, Monday -Friday.
- Volunteers and intern weekly commitment time will be mandated as per assignment and will stay in effect for 6 months
Our current 5-day structured program offers our participants the choice of becoming involved in various activities, such as:
Exercise and Dance
Arts & Crafts
Community Socialization Activities
Aquatics and Equestrian Programs
Special Olympics of Georgia
Counselor/student ratio is approximately 1:10. Volunteers serve as floaters providing invaluable assistance by simply providing a few hours of instruction in their field of interest .
The main requirement for volunteer service with SPACS is the inert love for human beings and the desire to see others smile!
